American University Students' Visit
American University has sent hundreds of student on trips both abroad and nationally with its Alternative Breaks program. Trips are planned and run by student organizers, and focus on different social justice issues present in the area they are visiting.
The three workshops in which members of Sisters4Sister and an American University Alternative Break group both participated in over the span of a few days were a success! On the first two days, the Young Girlfriends and the young adults from American U shared discussions about cultural similarities and differences, games, and dances. On the third day, student from American got the chance to travel to West Lake and interact with members of Sisters4Sisters in their own community. Dancing, art, lunch, and various games concluded the eye-opening and inspiring workshops. Overall, the experience was both a pleasure and a learning experience for both parties, who will never forget the opportunity.
